Hi friends! Sorry for my lack of updates. I’ve been on and off sick and generally very busy and overwhelmed! I recently cut myself free from a very time consuming commitment and plan on blogging my photography much more frequently! This commitment left me creatively and emotionally dry and I cannot wait to show you what I’ve been up to since then. I’ve been feeling so very inspired lately!
Anyway, I had the pleasure of taking engagement photos for my friend and old college roommate, Melissa! I met up with Melissa and her fiance, Jeremy, in the area to take some gorgeous shots. It’s great working with my friends! They trust my crazy ideas and are willing to hop fences and get dangerously close to waterfalls, just to get that shot

They are such a super fun and lovely couple! I’m so happy they let me take their photos

I welcomed in the New Year yesterday by tagging along with Kiva from Annandale Photography on a lovely intimate wedding shoot in Stamford, Connecticut. Being my first wedding, I was incredibly nervous, but it was so much fun! The couple and their families were great, and the setting was wonderful. The snow was coming down pretty heavily in the morning, but it eventually stopped and left us a beautiful snowy backdrop.

The ceremony was lovely. Sharon & Matt wrote their own vows; it was so touching! I have to admit, I was definitely tearing up. I’m such a sap! After the short ceremony, we headed outside to get some wedding photos of just the two of them. This next one is one of my favorites from the day. The light was incredible! They look pretty fierce themselves!

I’m sure you can imagine how freezing it was yesterday. My toes were frozen solid at this point, and I had three layers of leggings on!

Doesn’t the cake look delicious? I think it was hazelnut and chocolate, with fresh strawberries! Yum. Anyway, I have a ton more photos, but I just wanted to get a few (okay, a little more than a few) up quickly. I couldn’t sleep after my New Years Eve shenanigans so I decided to edit photos. Sounded like a good plan to me! I am so proud of myself! I think I did a nice job for my very first wedding.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Happy Holidays from Nicole Lee Photography! I hope you all had a beautiful holiday and that it continues into the New Year. I am so thankful for the support received this year. I plan on this business growing and being able to create many more lovely images for my clients in 2010.
Again, happy holidays from my family to yours! I’ll leave you with some personal photos from our Christmas celebration yesterday.

Hi friends! Last night I had the pleasure of taking photos and video at a show that was put on to benefit my good friend, Alex. Alex was hit by a drunk driver a couple months ago and is in rehab in Atlanta, Georgia. (I also wrote about it here) My buddy Andrew put together this show to raise money to help Alex and his family with the wicked medical bills and other needs. The show was a serious success!
A ton of money was raised! I was supposed to sell prints of my photography at the show, but I forgot, so I’m now going to open it up to the blog world. If you’d like to donate to Alex and his family, please email me at carpentern2@gmail.com and I will send you a print of any photo off my flickr site, and I’ll throw in some delicious, baked vegan treats as well!
Anyway, as I said, the show was one heck of a success. It was pretty much my first time really taking video or photos at a show, and I think I did a good job!

And of course, if you’d like to see video of the bands, check them out! I’ve got video of Fugue, Signal The Escape, Sleeping At The End Of The World, and Joe Ballaro.
I’ll be back with some food soon, I hope. I’ve been having laptop/camera/memory card issues. My camera/laptop ate a ton of video and photos from yesterday. Boohoo!

My love for photography started when I began writing for my personal food blog, Another One Bites The Crust (formerly Sweet Potatoe- remember those days?). At first, I just snapped a quick shot without taking much consideration into the composition, positioning, and lighting. I naturally progressed into becoming more aware of what makes a good shot and what does not.

The passion I had sparked for photography grew rapidly. I rarely strayed from food photography though, convinced I had no talent for any other kind. Just recently, late this year, I began to take photos of animals, people, and landscapes, but food photography will always be my first love.

I became familiar with my camera through documenting everything that went into my mouth. So, I thank you food photography- my gateway.

I was overjoyed when my friend Chris let me take photos of him today. He hates having photos taken, so it was a rare opportunity! I love shooting photos of my friends!
We were in my bare apartment, so there wasn’t too much to work with. Besides the drab background, it was totally dark out and I had to use the lighting in my apartment. I usually strictly stick to natural light, but I did not want to let the opportunity to take photos of my friend pass by!

We worked with the blank walls for these head shots. I love how they came out! Especially Chris’ eyes in the second one. They sparkle!
That’s all for now- it’s time for me to veg out while watching Dancing With The Stars. I’ve quite a few shoots lined up for the rest of the week and I am quite excited. How did I get so lucky having such good looking friends?

My buddy Andrew recently started up a musical project and was looking for some photos. I was so happy to help out! We decided on an abandoned gas station for the shoot. The gas station turned out to be a really interesting location. I think it was perfect.

I love how this shoot went down. It was very simple- Andrew sang and I just clicked away! I think we were able to capture Andrew’s intense passion for his craft this way. It shines through in the photos.

I’ve been friends with Christi for a while now, and I was so excited when I heard she was starting a blog! It just so happens to be a Twilight inspired clothing blog, Inside Bella’s Closet. She shares with her readers how to recreate many different looks from the Twilight series.
I had the pleasure of photographing Christi for her blog this past weekend!

We started out at a random shed that we found while looking for a beach to shoot on. We didn’t find the beach, but we were able to get some very lovely shots next to this shed. Our fun did not stop there! We drove over to an open field to recreate another scene from New Moon. The sun was just setting and it created such a lovely glow.

Once we wrapped up there, the three of us rushed over to the beach. We were so lucky to get there just as the sun was setting completely.

Wow! Catching moments like these are what I live for. I could not ask for a better shoot! Make sure you check out Chrisit’s blog so you can find out where you can snag all these lovely finds.
